This timeline captures the events of the Vincentia Golf Club community and JBCSC journey since the end of August 2024 to this day.

Our timeline charts the journey of the Vincentia Golf Club community and JBCSC starting with most recent events followed by a chronology through to end of August 2024. It provides JBCSC supporters and broader community with a detailed list of actions, events and documentation that has occurred to get us to the point we are now.

2 June 2025
SGBCC President Proudfoot’s message to members states the Board’s position regarding the submission of bids.
30 May 2025
Craig Hatton (JBCSC Chair) sent a letter to Ben Clegg (SGBCC CEO) requesting an extension for submitting a bid until 21 July 2025.
Ben Clegg sent a letter to Tom Karp advising that the SGBCC Board at its meeting on 29 May resolved that firm bids for de-amalgamation of CCV must be submitted by 12pm 23 June 2025. No offers will be accepted after that date.


28 May 2025
JBCSC representatives Tom Karp, Craig Hatton & Graeme Lawless met with Ben Clegg & Luke Hodges (SGBCC Management) to try to get the information we needed and advice on clubhouse re-opening and associated costs.
23 May 2025
Tom Karp sent a letter to Luke Hodges further explaining why we cannot provide an offer at this stage, detailing what further information we needed and requested another meeting.
22 May 2025
Luke Hodges emailed Craig Hatton requesting information on evidence of funding, business plans & work undertaken to date to support our proposal to make an offer. He recognised we still needed further information & also offered assistance re further information from SGBCC and re-opening the clubhouse.
21 May 2025
Craig Hatton met with Ben Clegg and Luke Hodges at CCV with Golf NSW's regional representative to assess the possibilities for the business.


19 May 2025
JBCSC sent a letter to SGBCC confirming it intends to make fair offer to de-amalgamate CCV from SGBCC but needs information gaps to be filled.
3-18 May 2025
Project Team worked on developing a model of the financial operations of the clubhouse and golf course and a further proposal to SGBCC on our EOI.


3 May 2025
All clubs which considered a possible amalgamation with CCV had decided not to progress an amalgamation.
1 May 2025
Tom Karp spoke to Luke Hodges about issues, systems and assets involved in re-opening VGC clubhouse if a de-amalgamation progressed. Luke Hodges requested JBCSC provide further information to SGBCC on our EOI by 28 May, as they are also expecting a formal response from the other party which lodged an EOI by that time.


1 March - 30 April 2025
Project Team has numerous discussions and liaisons with at least 4 clubs which may have been interested in amalgamating with CCV, and with a few organisations which may have been interested in a partnering arrangement to run CCV (including providing some funding).
Project Team & JBCSC Directors worked on possible business plans and funding arrangements if a pure de-amalgamation to JBCSC were to progress.
7 April 2025
Representatives of the Vincentia Golf Working Group (WG), Vincentia Golf sub-clubs and local builders inspected VGC clubhouse to broadly assess its state. Observations fed back to JBCSC Directors, Project Team and WG.


6 March 2025
Tom Karp met with Ben Clegg & Luke Hodges to again request information to help us progress our EOI, discuss the EOI process & timetable.

21 February 2025
Jervis Bay Community & Sports Club Ltd (JBCSC) is established as a registered company, under the Corporations Act 2001 and registered in New South Wales, as a company limited by guarantee.
12 February 2025
Tom Karp emails Ben Clegg following up his email of 6 February, but also querying SGBCC identification of Vincentia “dissolved members”.
6 February 2025
Tom Karp requested Ben Clegg provide information to be given to EOI applicants and details of assets to be transferred on de-amalgamation.

Discussions commence with clubs to possibly amalgamate with.

SGBCC calls for Expressions of Interest (EOI) for registered clubs to amalgamate with Country Club Vincentia (CCV).

Liza Butler met with Vincentia Golf Working group & extended Committees to brief them on the SGBCC Board Meeting held on 19th December 2024.

SGBCC re-opens Vincentia golf course, but not the clubhouse.

Liza Butler intervenes & SGBCC Board agree in principle to consider de-amalgamation.


27 November 2024
WG sent letter to the SGBCC President and Directors reporting on community engagement, and seeking engagement to move dialogue forward.
24 November 2024
WG gathered broad community feedback at the Vincentia Community Connect Day, on the opportunities and concerns for Vincentia Golf Club's future.


12 November 2024
WG hosted an open Community Update session in collaboration with VRRA-CCB, seeking input on improved viability ideas and level of acceptable development.
4 September 2024
Six WG members attended SGBCC Board meeting to discuss Vincentia Club closure and path forward. Board expected to make a decision on the future of the VGC premises by 1 December 2024.


3 September 2024
Vincentia Golf Working Group (WG) formed to liaise with SGBCC Board and Management.
26 August 2024
SGBCC closes Vincentia golf course & clubhouse advising members with the announcement, Closure of The Country Club Vincentia With No Other Viable Way Forward.
