Liza Butler was interviewed by Triple U FM - Shoalhaven Community Radio on Thursday. She was asked to provide an update on the de-amalgamation of the SGBCC with the Vincentia Golf Club. Liza noted that the community has been fighting hard for a long time to save their course and club and stated that in her role as MP: "For me it's all about strengthening community, not tearing it to shreds."
Liza also highlighted the unique vision of JBCSC as not just a sporting facility and golf course but becoming a centre that supports youth training, in particular supporting disadvantaged youth, which is a priority in our local area due to the high percentage of youth who do not finish school and the high percentage of youth unemployment, which can lead to a higher percentage of youth crime - stating, "We really need a facility like this in the Bay and Basin."
Liza went on to say, "For me, clubs are there for the community, and to strengthen community". Liza then briefly described key steps in the process of de-amalgamation and her hopes for JBCSC's establishment.
