This week marks two years since the doors were shut on Country Club Vincentia.

The past 12 months in particular have seen enormous and necessary change in direction, as JBCSC has worked to develop a model capable not simply of reopening the doors, but of creating something sustainable for generations to come.

That model centres on de-amalgamating from SGBCC and establishing a new, independent precinct on the Vincentia site. This is a significant step, and one not taken lightly — but it reflects the scale of change needed to give Vincentia a viable, sustainable path forward.

This process has been characterised by a genuine spirit of cooperation, support and thoughtful advice from the Board and Management of SGBCC. That relationship has helped move the proposed de-amalgamation from an aspiration into the critical financial viability and regulatory phase now underway.

JBCSC could not be more appreciative of the spirit in which SGBCC has approached this process. Their willingness to listen, advise and work constructively with us has been enormously important, as we navigate together what is a complex and largely unprecedented undertaking.

There is now a clear pathway forward and real excitement about what lies ahead: a genuine community asset at the Vincentia precinct — a place for sport, great food, fabulous beverages, training and trade, families, fun and connection.

That excitement was on full display recently at JBCSC's community fundraising event at Worrowing Jervis Bay, which raised approximately $18,000 — a strong indication of just how keen the community is to see the precinct come to fruition.

There is still work ahead, and important regulatory hurdles to clear. But today is an appropriate moment to thank SGBCC for the cooperation, goodwill and thoughtfulness they have shown throughout this significant stage of the journey.

Two years is behind us.

Ahead lies an exciting new chapter for JBCSC at the Vincentia precinct.
