3 August GM result & launch of de-amalgamation roadmap

The SGBCC General Meeting on the 3rd of August, 2025 saw the five resolutions all defeated with almost unanimous NO votes from the more than 800 members in attendance.

This is an important result for two reasons.

Firstly, it means the land associated with the Vincentia Golf Club remains core, so there can be no sell-off or development without members’ approval.

Secondly, it means that our communities can move on from the upset and angst caused last year by the closure of the VGC course and clubhouse and the antagonistic SGBCC director elections.

Thankfully, the SGBCC Board recognised the enormous community support for the de-amalgamation of VGC from SGBCC, so they decided to unanimously support in-principle the JBCSC offer to buy back VGC and to urge members to vote NO to all 5 resolutions so the decks could be cleared, and we can all move forward on de-amalgamation.

The JBCSC would like to thank the over 800 Country Club members who turned up and voted, as this was also a strong message of support for de-amalgamation.

Introducing the JBCSC De-amalgamation Roadmap

Work towards de-amalgamation will now move up a gear as there are numerous legal and regulatory steps to complete which will take many months. To help Country Club members and the broader community understand the de-amalgamation process, the JBCSC Board has published a new webpage that is dedicated to De-amalgamation. This details a step-by-step roadmap where our de-amalgamation progress can be tracked.

While we have a community-minded supporter who will fund the $2M purchase price on favourable terms to us, we will also need financial and in-kind support from individuals and local businesses in order to get the clubhouse ready to re-open and then operate sustainably to provide the services members want. More details on fundraising will be coming soon.

On the 4th of August, the JBCSC Board received a letter from SGBCC inviting JBCSC's Directors to a joint meeting with the SGBCC Directors to discuss de-amalgamation.

We encourage our followers and supporters to keep an eye on our De-amalgamation page and we will continue to publish updates as we progress.
