This update is designed to set the stage as we move forward in 2026. As a community, let's build 'our story'.

A new chapter for Jervis Bay

Every community reaches a moment where it chooses what it wants to become.

For Jervis Bay, that moment is now.

The journey toward de-amalgamation by the Jervis Bay Community & Sports Club is not about looking back with regret, it is about looking forward with confidence. It is about creating a club that reflects who we are today and who we want to be tomorrow: open, welcoming, active, and connected.

This is a story of renewal, shaped by locals, supported by partners, and inspired by one of the most beautiful places in the world.

Why change was needed

For many years, the old idea of “the club” played an important role in community life. But communities evolve. Jervis Bay has grown into a vibrant mix of locals, families, visitors, creatives, sportspeople and trades all looking for places that bring people together rather than divide them.

De-amalgamation gives Jervis Bay the opportunity to design a club for this new reality: modern in outlook, sustainable in operation, and grounded in community purpose.

It allows us to move from legacy structures to a future-focused model built on good governance, financial discipline and genuine inclusion.

A welcoming modern club for everyone

The future Jervis Bay Community & Sports Club will feel less like an old-style “golfie” and more like a great coastal gathering place, where you can get a drink, have a decent feed, and talk to friends and visitors.

A place filled with light, conversation and energy. Where families feel comfortable, tourists feel welcome, and locals feel proud. Where you can arrive after the beach, after sport, or for a celebration — and always feel at home.

This will be a club that embraces Jervis Bay’s relaxed coastal spirit while offering a high-quality experience that locals and visitors alike will seek out.

Not exclusive. Not intimidating.

Just genuinely welcoming.

Sport, health and connection

Sport remains central to our story, but not as a single focus.

Golf, fitness, social sport, walking, junior programs and emerging activities will all be part of a broader vision for health, well-being and connection. The club will be a place where participation matters, where generations mix, and where being active is part of everyday life.

Sport here is about belonging as much as competition.

Creating opportunity through trades and training

One of the most important chapters in our future story is opportunity.

The club will support trades, training and employment pathways particularly for young people, and those who need a chance to build skills, confidence and real careers. Construction, hospitality, events, tourism and land care will all create hands-on learning and meaningful work.

This is not about short-term gain. It is about long-term impact locally delivered, community-focused, and deeply practical.

A club that helps people build their future is a club that truly serves its community.

A jewel above the bay

Set above one of the world’s great coastlines, the club will be a natural meeting place, a destination in its own right, and a proud gateway to Jervis Bay.

It will contribute to local tourism, support community events, host celebrations, and become the place people instinctively recommend when asked, “Where should we go?”

"Up the hill.

You’ll love it."

Looking ahead together

De-amalgamation is not an ending. It is the beginning of something better.

The process will be lengthy, well exceeding initial thoughts.

The hurdles are great, the regulators meticulous and methodical, and with that comes a retained purpose with lots and lots of patience as the process is then out of our hands.

A modern, financially sustainable, community-first club.

A place that reflects Jervis Bay’s warmth, diversity and optimism.

A place built with care, purpose and pride.

This is our story and as we move through the months ahead it will continue to unfold.
