A message from JBCSC Board:

"As we move through the critical preparation phase for the Financial Viability Report, we ask our community to rely only on official updates from the JBCSC Board and Project Team regarding the processes currently underway.

There is an enormous amount of technical work happening behind the scenes involving legal assessments, financial modelling, due diligence, discussions with industry experts and evaluation of different services and offerings. Much of this work is complex, sensitive and ongoing, and premature commentary or speculation can unintentionally complicate what is already a demanding process.

We know our community cares deeply about the future of this project, and the energy, ideas and passion being shown are genuinely appreciated. That support is one of the reasons this vision has come as far as it has.

Right now, however, the most helpful thing everyone can do is allow the Board, Project Team, and expert advisors the space to complete the work required to satisfy the strict financial and regulatory thresholds in front of us.

When there is information ready to be shared, you will hear it directly from us.

We would also like to acknowledge the support of SGBCC in this complex and time-consuming process. The SGBCC Board and Management’s assistance has been very helpful.

Thank you for your understanding, your patience, and for standing with us, as we continue the work of building something truly special for this community."

Community engagement is important

In addition to the work being undertaken by the Board and Project Team towards de-amalgamation, members of the Community Working Group (CWG) are also working in teams to draft business cases for potential JBCSC facilities, programs and services.

We also now have 205 volunteers who have registered to help with a whole range of tasks. We are grateful to have access to such a rich pool of knowledge, expertise and talent to draw upon (as required).

The Fundraising Committee continues to work on an event planning program to bring JBCSC supporters together (such as the Banter & Raffles nights every Friday and Trivia Nights every Wednesday at Mercier’s), and is exploring opportunities for some fundraising events in the coming months.

Please come to Mercier’s Gelato, Coffee & Bar at 13 Currambene Street, Huskisson for:

  • Wednesday Trivia Nights 7:00-9:00pm for a $2 donation to play, with three trivia prizes each night, and there’s also a Pick-a-Box raffle that jackpots each week. Book your table ahead of time via Mercier’s Facebook page or drop by Mercier’s in Huskisson.

  • Friday Banter & Raffles Nights - no need to book, just drop by Mercier’s on Fridays from 4:00-7:00pm for food, banter, and meat tray and Pick-a-Box raffles.

Please note, Mercier’s is now serving all food and beverages for these events.
